The Moro’a community and dignitaries from across Kaduna State gathered on Saturday to pay their final respects to Mr. Tagwai Sambo, the revered traditional ruler of Moro’a in Kaura Local Government Area. The late chief, who passed away at the age of 88, was laid to rest in his hometown, Manchok, after an illustrious 58 years on the throne.

The funeral service was held at Manchok Township Square and attended by prominent figures, including Kaduna State Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarebe and former Governor Ahmed Makarfi. Deputy Governor Balarebe, in her tribute, praised Chief Sambo’s unwavering commitment to peace and his role as a custodian of tradition. “He was not only a custodian of our tradition but a beacon of peace,” she stated.

Alisabatu Sambo, the late chief’s widow, remembered him as a humble man who always prioritized the well-being of others. “His life was a beautiful journey, marked by the love he gave and the lives he touched,” she reflected.

Senator Sunday Katung lauded Sambo’s leadership, highlighting his significant contributions to the development of Kaduna State. Bishop Mathew Kukah urged the youth to honor the late chief’s legacy by upholding his principles of love, peace, faith, and integrity. Former Governor Ahmed Makarfi also paid tribute, recognizing Sambo as an epitome of decency, comportment, and calm, who dedicated his life to the service of his people and the promotion of peaceful coexistence.

Born on December 24, 1936, Tagwai Sambo ascended the throne at the age of 30 in 1966, following his tenure as Commissioner for Works and Housing in the Northern Regional Government. His reign was marked by his steadfast dedication to his community and his efforts to foster development and harmony within the region.

As the Moro’a community bids farewell to their beloved leader, his legacy of peace, humility, and service continues to inspire those who were touched by his remarkable life.
