Tolulope Olowu, 41, was detained by members of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly killing his 33-year-old neighbor Pablo with a knife.
According to reports, Olowu and Pablo, two residents of First Unity Estate in the Badore neighborhood of Ajah, Lagos State, got into a fight over a parking spot on their street.
Despite co-residents’ best efforts to resolve the conflict, it turned into a brawl in which Olowu is accused of fatally stabbing Pablo.
The event was reported to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police public relations officer.
According to Hundeyin, the incident took place on Saturday at First Unity Estate in the Badore neighborhood of Ajah, about 10 p.m.
He claimed that on Sunday about 2am, the Langbasa Police Division received a complaint of the incident.
According to a police spokesman, the deceased and the suspect both lived on Gbadamosi Street in the estate.
He added, “They had a misunderstanding over parking of a vehicle on the street.
“In the process, Olowu allegedly stabbed Pablo with a knife in the stomach and he died on the spot.
“Based on the report, a team of detectives from the Langbasa Police Division visited and photographed the scene.
“The corpse has been evacuated and deposited at the morgue of the Infectious Diseases Hospital, Yaba for autopsy.”
Hundeyin said the suspect has been arrested with the exhibit of crime, while an investigation was in progress.
