Yesterday, officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) worked together to rescue a male accident victim on Anthony-Oke Bridge in the Gbagada area of Lagos.
Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, Director of LASTMA’s Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, confirmed that the rescued accident victim sustained serious internal injuries as a result of multiple accidents involving three vehicles, including a minibus.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of a ‘Suzuki’ minibus (EKY 299 YC) was struggling for right of way (R.O.W) with other vehicles when his brakes failed and he collided with two other vehicles (Toyota Corolla GGE 824 JA) and (Toyota Venza KSF 954 HG) on Anthony Bridge While LASTMA officials cleared all accidental vehicles from the road.
The accident victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Ikeja by officials from the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), who handed them over to police officers from the Ilupeju Police Division for further investigation.
Mr. Bakare-Oki Olalekan, General Manager of LASTMA, urged motorists to avoid competing for right of way with other vehicles and to ensure that their vehicle’s braking system is in good working order before embarking on any journey within or outside the State.
