Ayodele Joseph, a doctor, was remanded on Thursday by an Ilorin Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping a patient.
The accused was charged with rape and two counts of gross indecency in violation of articles 285 and 283 of the criminal code.
Police said that the defendant raped the patient, a licensed nurse, after drugged her.
Medical tests also showed that the nurse had been sexually abused, according to the police, who claimed that their investigation into the case resulted in the seizure of a video tape showing sexual actions on the victim.
Mr. Gbenga Ayeni, the prosecution’s attorney, briefed the court of the seriousness of the crime and the motion attached to the police report asking for the suspect to be kept on remand.
The case’s magistrate, Gbadeyan Jumoke Kamson, approved Ayeni’s request for remand while postponing the hearing until May 18.
