The plane went down around 7.45 a.m., shortly after taking off for an operation against economic saboteurs in Rivers. Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, issued a statement on Friday According to Abuja, the helicopter was carrying five crew members.
He did, however, say that all five had minor injuries and were being treated at the NAF Medical Centre in Port Harcourt.
“Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, Chief of the Air Staff, is currently en route to Port Harcourt to assess the situation, ensure the crew’s safety, and issue further directives.”
“Incident of this nature is yet again a grim reminder of the dangers associated with military flying and the risks NAF pilots and technicians experience in their onerous tasks of defending our nation and deterring criminal elements from their nefarious activities,” he said.
