NSCDC Warns Operatives on Effective Management of Weapons and Ammunition

Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has charged all armourers and unit commanders with carrying out their duties in accordance with the corps’ standard operating procedures and global best practices.

According to NSCDC National Public Relations Officer CSC Babawale Zaid Afolabi, Audi stated this during a one-day strategic meeting with all armourers and unit commanders from various formations across the country at the headquarters in Abuja on Saturday.

According to him, the strategic meeting was appropriate and central to improving the corporate and effective management of arms and ammunition in the Corps.

“We will not open our eyes and tolerate any indiscriminate behavior. Audi warned, “If you are involved in mishandling arms and ammunition, you must stop immediately or you will be shown the way out.”

According to reports, the NSCDC boss directed that accurate records of all arm and ammunition movements be kept, and that timely briefings on armament be provided to state commandants and the national commandant on a regular basis.

He also stated that armourers and unit commanders must have completed weapons training and be appointed from among general duty officers.

While assuring the attendees of his administration’s commitment to continuous training and retraining this year, Audi reinforced that the meeting became necessary to re-echo the stance of the NSCDC and enhance its overall performance to effectively deliver on its mandate.
