Through the assistance of security agencies, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has obtained the release of one of the eight Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) kidnapped in Zamfara State.
Eddy Megwa, Director of Press and Public Relations, made the announcement on Saturday in Abuja.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), gunmen kidnapped eight PCMs and the bus driver in Zamfara in August when they were traveling from Uyo, Akwa Ibom, to Sokoto.
They were on their way to the start of the one-year national service orientation session.
According to Megwa, the PCM, a female, was released on Friday about 12.30 p.m.
“The scheme is confident that the remaining will be released thanks to the combined efforts of security agencies.”
“As Management reminds corps members and prospective recruits to constantly prioritize their personal security.
“The scheme shall never shirk its responsibility of upholding the security and welfare of corps embers at all times,” he went on to say.
