Dr. Goddy Igbaekemen, a lecturer at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State, has filed a complaint with the Police Service Commission (PSC) over alleged document removal and mutilation from his official records.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja was given a copy of the plea that was signed by the lecturer’s attorney, Mr. Thomas Shachia, on Sunday.
Igbaekemen said that the document was altered and removed from his file in order to thwart and prevent him from receiving a promotion that had been legitimately approved by the academy since 2015.
He said that those out to get him had destroyed the letter that contained the approval, removed it from his official file, and hidden it.
The lecturer claimed that after numerous attempts and a formal letter to the academy’s registrar requesting the document’s retrieval, the irregularity was uncovered.
Igbaekemen claimed that his difficulties at the Academy began after his forcible separation from the military in 2016.
He said that following the National Assembly (NASS) Committee on Petitions’ intervention, he was later reinstated.
The lecturer continued by saying that the NASS had determined that it was illegal to terminate his employment.
However, the petitioner claimed that he had been refused any promotions despite the National Assembly ruling.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I am eminently qualified to be promoted and conferred with the status of a professor” he said
The lecturer, however, said that the Academy has neither promoted him, nor paid his necessary arrears till date.
Therefore, Igbaekemen pleaded with Dr. Solomon Arase, Chairman of PSC, to instruct the Commandant and Management of the Academy to make his promotion letter public.
Additionally, he urged the chairman to order the academy to give him his rightful position as a professor and to pay all of his accrued benefits.
Igbaekemen also pleaded with the PSC chairperson to order the Inspector General of Police to launch an investigation into the claims made in the petition right away. (NAN)
