While both the original and remake videos have crossed 1 billion views, the Selena Gomez-assisted version continues to strive to become the first Nigerian music video to reach 1 billion views.

The record, which was released in February 2022 as one of the lead singles from Rema’s debut album ‘Calm Down,’ has achieved extraordinary popularity across Africa and beyond.

The track reached the top of the charts in North Africa, India, and the Middle East, earning Rema a Guinness World Record.

The record also charted in various nations across Europe, including Nigeria, where it peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart.

‘Calm Down’ just won the inaugural Afrobeats category at the 2023 MTV EMAs, defeating opposition from Davido, Burna Boy, and Asake.
