[Updated] Popular ‘Zazu’ singer Portable granted bail

A Magistrate Court in Ogun State’s Ifo, Ifo local government area has granted bail to well-known “Zazu Zeh” singer Habeeb Okikiola nicknamed Portable.

The hip hop artist was charged by the Ogun State Police Command on three counts, including assault and theft of musical instruments.

However today’s presiding Magistrate of the court granted bail to Portable ( Monday).

The contentious singer was given a bail bond of N300,000 with two family members as sureties.

Before leaving the court grounds, Portable should satisfy the bail condition, according to the magistrate.

Remember that Portable turned down numerous invites before being apprehended by police officers on Friday.

The musician’s problems started last week when he posted an Instagram live video in which he claimed that police officers invaded his pub in Sango Ota at the request of an online fraudster (Yahoo Boy).

The musician was invited to the Ogun State Police Command’s headquarters after the video, which has since gone viral and generated some internet controversy.

Despite the authorities giving Portable a 72-hour deadline to turn himself up, Portable did not show up.

On Saturday, Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi said the portable has more than six charges to attend to, apart from resisting arrest and injuring a policeman.

“He will be charged to court for beating up a guy in Ota, who filed a petition to CP Ogun,” Adejobi tweeted.

“There are many pending cases of assaults on people and attacks, and he will be investigated because people have complained against him”.

“So, there is no sentiment in law, let him appear in court, and allow the judge to listen to the charges against him. He has no constitutional immunity anyway.”

The singer argued that his arrest was “unwarranted,” adding that he makes his money “legitimately.”

The 29-year-old also referred to himself as “a federal government liability”.
