When a pregnant passenger on a KLM flight to Amsterdam unexpectedly went into labor, she gave delivery, causing the aircraft to make an emergency landing in Spain.
Aviation24 said on Tuesday that the incident occurred early on Monday when a passenger on KLM Flight 588, a Boeing 777 traveling from Lagos to Amsterdam in the Netherlands, unexpectedly went into labor.
Unknown mother gave birth to a girl prematurely after being rushed to the front galley, according to reports. In Barcelona, where medical personnel were waiting, the aircraft then made an emergency landing.
According to reports, both mother and daughter are doing well.
KLM spokeswoman, Marjan Rozemeijer, on Tuesday, said, “I can confirm that a baby was born on the KL 588 on its way from Lagos to Amsterdam, Due to privacy reasons I cannot make any further statements on the birth.”
