The Abia State chapter of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) has suspended its Chairman, Uluocha Nelccin Chimezuo, for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities, and has replaced him with Mr Uzodinma Nwoko as acting Chairman and Secretary, pending the party’s next congress.
Members of the YPP’s State Working Committee (SWC) said in a communique issued at the party’s secretariat on 75 Aba Road in Umuahia that the former Chairman, Uluocha Nelccin Chimezuo, had been suspended from the party for alleged anti-party activities before and during the 2023 general elections.
During the SWC meeting, Success Echefula moved for the suspension of the party Chairman and a vote of no confidence in him, which was seconded by Nwakanma Dauglas It was deemed unacceptable by the party.
YPP Chairman to accept appointment as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Revenue Service Mobilization to Umuahia North LGA Chairman, Victor Ikeji.
According to the party, which stated that it notified the national secretariat of the SWC’s decision, Uluocha Nelccin Chimezuo could no longer function as the party Chairman due to accepting the SSA position.
It went on to say that the suspended Chairman violated Section 31.14 and Article 31 of the YPP constitution.
YPP also insisted that it had no alliance with the Labour Party, and questioned why the suspended Chairman refused to resign from the SSA appointment.
